Record Lows

That's what the weather channel is saying: "record low temperatures". That's bad news in January but it's awesome for the last day of August. I rode Birdland tonight and it was epic. It rained a lot in the past week and it was mush-cakes out there but after a little dialing and the tarps, the jumps were perfect. I changed my bike up a little bit last week, including an up-size to a 2.10 SNAFU tire on the rear. Beefy tostada. It feels great though.
DIG 72 arrived in the mailbox on Saturday and it's another great issue. Not to toot horns but there is a piece on Luke McGarry by yours truly with Sean Newton pics. If you don't have a subscription to the best BMX magazine there is, you should be ashamed of yourself. The "Credence Rainwater Revival" article is one of the best articles I've seen and this photo of Brian Yeagle--you just have to see it... I don't know much about Jon Peacy but there is a great interview with him. I can definitely relate to this breakdown: "I am a sweet and tangy 36 year old when I arise in the morning...after about 30 minutes of stiffened creaky old man shuffling around I morph into 25...Once the coffee kicks in and the sun shine warms my flesh, I regress to approximately 23 years of age. After I swing my leg over my chromoly war steed I'm a skinny 18 year old." So right on. Add a handful of years to my equation and the creakiness lingers a little longer, but boy, once I get a few runs in on that little bike, I come to life!

right now, I'm so jealous of record lows, considering LA is basically on fire. Hopefully this time next year I'll be running Birdland...
