The kids are alright

I went up to Modern in Grand Rapids tonight for a BMX contest. I supplied some Etnies and Deliverance gear as prizes but thankfully had very little to do with anything otherwise. I mostly just rode and shot some video clips (after the contest and during the best trick). I don't have names of anyone but Ben Fischer (I think that's his last name) won the contest, I think. The dude that won best trick is at the end of the vid with the clean whip over the barrier on a borrowed bike no less. I gave him a pair of Etnies for his efforts.

It was nice to ride in AC after the sweltering heat we've had this week.
Rest In Peace Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and the King of Pop. All three of these people were icons and a big part of my growing up. I used to watch the Tonight Show on a shitty little black and white TV during the summer when I would sleep in our camper in the yard. Michael Jackson's Off The Wall album is a musical masterpiece and was the soundtrack for at least a summer when it came out. I remember hitting a jump at my friend Tom Perigo's house with "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" blasting. And Farrah, well, let's just say that when I was 12, she helped me realize what life was all about. A sad day indeed...

I rode Modern in Royal Oak last night and they played a bunch of classic Michael Jackson. It was really fun to ride to 'Don't Stop Til You Get Enough', 'Beat It', and other Michael Jackson hits. It reminded me that despite all the negative stuff he got himself into, he did a lot of good when it came to making some great tunes.

No air conditioning at Modern Royal Oak though, so it was sweltering in there but still so fun with almost the whole place to myself.
