Thumbs Down

I probably shouldn't post on Sunday nights. I usually have a few beers in me and it's obvious that I get a little extra crude and obnoxious if you check this site most Monday mornings. I couldn't sleep at like 5 am today and decided to re-read what I had posted and maybe tone it down a little, but I read McGoo's comment and decided to leave it all alone. I was being dramatic, maybe, but the root of what I wrote is how I really feel. I am very passionate about BMX. I love to watch BMX on TV. When I was a kid, if BMX showed up in commercial or for two minutes on the Mickey Mouse Club (I actually saw my first non-magazine images on the MMC!). I still feel the same way. I enjoyed the racing action--the coverage was horrible, but the actual racing was cool. It's awesome that the unknown dude from the unknown country won--more power to him. I just don't like what BMX racing has become and that's it. Take away the clipless pedals, paved turns and make the tracks a little more like motocross tracks (Bicycle Motocross?) and you would have an awesome event. Xgames downhill BMX? Yeah, that was it! Why not like that? It was perfect.
Now there are some really heated comments on there and I'm glad I left it alone! Check them out. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I'm glad they are posting them here. Good points from all three so far, so keep it coming. The Lightning Bolts show was in Portland this weekend and apparently my friend Dan Goins was there.
Here's what he thought of everything.PS I hate the triple whips and front flips too...

You shouldn't be sorry about your post. One thing I just thought of is that blogging is a lot like Sports Talk Radio. The host throws his opinion out there and then rubes from all over call in and comment - somestimes agreeing, sometimes not, sometimes disputing whatever the last caller said. This is our Talk Radio. Thanks for taking my call.

Sure BMX racing is stale these days, but take it from someone that knows, ANY coverage is good coverage. You didn't really expect BMX to rival the established sports did you? I say leave clips, but made a tire pressure limit of, say 30#. Now lets see a full straight manual, pal. Lay off the cheap beer, and fall in love with a bottle of JD..Dan shows how stoked he was about someone missing a certain OHIO bro down..HO
